Congratulations to Mary Bishara — 2026 TRDRP Predoctoral Award Recipient

We’re thrilled to share that Mary Bishara, a graduate student in our lab, has been selected as a 2026 TRDRP Predoctoral Award recipient (July 2026-June 2029). Mary’s project, “Repurposing GLP-1 Receptor Agonists for Vaping Cessation: Genetic and Circuit Mechanisms in Heterogeneous Stock Rats,” stood out to reviewers for its originality and the real-world impact it could have on how we approach vaping cessation.

The Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program funds research aimed at reducing tobacco use, tackling tobacco-related diseases, and shaping public health policy in California—all backed by tobacco excise tax revenue.
This is a well-deserved recognition, Mary.

We’re proud of you!
