New Grant Awarded
We’ve received a new R01 award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in substance use disorder and HIV," to support a collaborative project led by Dr. Christine Cheng (contact MPI) and Dr. de Guglielmo (MPI). We will study how fentanyl use and HIV may converge on mitochondrial and metabolic pathways that contribute to cognitive and brain health complications and will test whether boosting NAD+ can help restore cellular resilience. This work will integrate advanced human cell models with translational rat studies to identify actionable mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
